The Women's Henley Regatta, founded in 1988, is a testament to female empowerment in rowing. It arose in response to the exclusion of women from the traditional Henley Royal Regatta, providing a platform for elite female rowers worldwide.
Held annually on the River Thames in Henley-on-Thames, it showcases the skill and determination of athletes from diverse backgrounds. This regatta stands out for its commitment to gender equality, fostering a community where women excel and inspire. Races unfold with grace and intensity, drawing spectators to the riverbanks to witness thrilling displays of strength and strategy.
Beyond competition, the event embodies resilience and camaraderie, empowering women to break barriers in sport and beyond. The Women's Henley Regatta is more than a race—it's a celebration of female athleticism and a symbol of progress in the sporting world.

Jacksonville University Women’s Rowing Teams 2024 Vision
Our team’s journey has not been without its challenges but it has also been incredibly gratifying. After a historical program finish at NCAAs last season, our athletes are very excited to get their motors running this spring.
We are graduating a pivotal senior class who have devoted a tremendous amount of compassion, discipline, and energy to this program. To thank them and the rest of their teammates for their dedication and focus, we are going international this summer to Amsterdam for training then the Women’s Henley Regatta in England.
The women's rowing team has not competed internationally since 1995, so representing both Jacksonville University and the city of Jacksonville abroad represents a monumental and historic achievement.
Sixteen dedicated athletes from Jacksonville University are gearing up for an adventure across the pond! Their trip will kick off with six days of training in Amsterdam, setting the stage for the season’s finale. Next, the athletes will spend six days in Henley on Thames, just 50 miles north of London, participating in the renowned Women's Henley Regatta, a prestigious competition that adds to their international expedition.
This trip of a lifetime promises a blend of thrilling racing, sightseeing, and immersive cultural experiences. It represents a significant milestone for Jacksonville University, marking the team’s first international endeavor in nearly three decades.
To bring this ambitious trip to fruition, we’re asking for the support of alums, friends, and the athletes themselves. This collective effort aims to raise the funds necessary to make this trip unforgettable. Each contribution will help provide these 16 remarkable athletes with the opportunity to expand their horizons, both athletically and culturally.
Together, let's make this adventure a reality and help Jacksonville University Rowing reach its goal. With your help, we can send these dedicated athletes on a transformative and enriching journey!
